Surf Experience Day with Dr. Bruce Ong, Professional Surfer Nate Zoller, and Executive Director Hans Hagen
One of the Foundation’s programs is Surf Experience Days, which pairs professional surf instructors and novice surf students who have Cystic Fibrosis to introduce them to the healing properties of exercise, ocean air, achievement, and fun in a supportive environment.
Hypertonic saline (which is prevalent in the ocean air just above the water’s surface) has been shown to be a natural treatment for people with Cystic Fibrosis.

We couldn't run our events without our volunteers. Day of check-in, set up, surf coaching, or break down, we are in need of a volunteer team at each Surf Experience Day.

A Story of courage, love, and relentless human spirit
PADDLE OUT chronicles the extraordinary life of surfer Melissa Pappageorgas, who defied cystic fibrosis, surfing with an oxygen tank. Her love of life and resilience deliver an uplifting and inspiring story of joy and courage. Beautiful cinematography and a soundtrack by Jack Johnson capture her deep connection to the ocean and the magic of life.
